Eva's Notes: Planting a Seed
A newsletter about writing, art and living more creatively
Sorry for the radio silence: I've been spreading myself too thin, traveling, and then getting sick. But I'm back!
I recently posted this on my insta and was suprised to see it resonated with so many people. It's a lovely illo by Lindsay Arakawa, who you should definitely follow.
It got a few comments and quite a few insta story reshares, probably because it gets to the root of what many creatives struggle with. There's this idea you have, and you instantly want it to be perfect. No rough drafts, no mistakes. Or maybe you start a new project and you instantly want everyone to love it — from day one.
This is not to be salty: I AM THE EXACT SAME WAY. I struggle, often, with cultivating patience. So I loved this reminder. And it was cool to see it resonated with other people as well.
I encourage you to plant a tiny seed this week: even if it's just writing down an idea you've had floating in your head. Or dedicating a few more minutes to reading before bed. Or buying a new planner so you can keep track of your goals. Whatever small step, do it without the pressure of it leading to something amazing right away. And congratulate yourself, after, for at least doing that much.
xoxo,
Your favorite small but feisty writer
Eva
