Trusting the Process
A newsletter about writing, art and living more creatively
Sometimes I just want to hear from other people, so that I feel a little less anxious and alone when it comes to the creative process. I put this on my Instagram recently and got some great comments:
Does anyone else struggle with this? I feel like I can play the "compare and despair" game all day long (you know, the one where you see everyone else's accomplishments on social and realize you've done like NOTHING in comparison, which is not true, but then you're like OH I'LL NEVER WRITE AGAIN).
I loved hearing tips from people in the comments section. A lot of the overlapping comments I read were all about practicing gratitude and really acknowledging everything you're already doing. So it's about enjoying and honoring the process too. You might feel like you have a billion things left to do but that shouldn't come at the expense of your own happiness. Or as I have been thinking of it lately: I want to write a book but I don't want to be anxious and miserable the whole time I'm writing it. Yes, it's about seeing it on a shelf or in someone's hands but it should also be about the journey of getting there.
Too cheesy? Anyway, I'd love to hear about some of the tips and tricks you have.
xoxo,
Your favorite small but feisty writer
