A Few Opportunities for Creatives
A newsletter about writing, art and living more creatively
Since the newsletter on Applying to Creative Residencies did so well a few months ago, I thought I'd get a list together featuring opportunities I've seen recently. I'm always bookmarking them to retweet or share with friends.
Here are a few I've been seeing in case they're in your lane Apply, apply! The worst they can say is no.
The Banff International Songwriter Residency offers one-on-one sessions and group workshop along with recording sessions and performance opportunities. You get a personal studio space to work from, too. It's open to applicants worldwide with an "established professional practice," no matter the genre. There are also scholarships available. Deadline is Nov. 1.
NALAC's Fund for the Arts (NFA) was "developed in response to the articulated needs of the Latinx workforce and the historic undercapitalization" of Latinx artists. If you're a U.S. or Puerto Rico based artist, working in any discipline, you can apply! Same goes if you are part of an art collective. Grants can be used for everything from living wages to travel to training. Deadline is Sept. 26.
The Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers is taking applications for its 2020-2021 fellowship. If you're a scholar, writer or visual artist you can apply, so long as your work "will benefit directly from access to the collections at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. The fellowship includes a stipend of up to $75,000, an office with a computer and full access to the library's physical and electronic resources. Deadline is Sept. 27.
